THE SONS OF MARS:
An Epic Tale of Ancient Rome
Follow the lives of three characters who are caught up in a brutal war on an unforgiving frontier. Antonius, the great warrior
whose heart bleeds for Rome, the great leader who is betrayed and forsaken, the great man who may be Rome’s only hope.
Celesta, widowed by the actions of a cut-throat, tormented by prophetic nightmares and left to know only tears and sorrow.
Marcellus, the one chosen by the gods to bring justice upon the barbarians, to pay back cruelty with cruelty, and to unleash
the wrath of the god of Mars.
IN THE NAME OF ROME
A prepatory work by Anthony Barnhart. "In the Name of Rome" served as Barnhart's platform for experimenting with different
epic writing styles. He discovered what he liked and what he didn't like, and is using his discoveries to write his upcoming
epic novel, "The Sons of Mars." This fictional story follows a young soldier who becomes a hero after surviving a bloody battle
against the Macedonian enemy. He is relocated to fight in the hills north of Rome against the barbaric Britons and Germanians.
He does not desire to fight and must wrestle with his own demons, even if it means sacrificing himself in the name of righteousness.
